Hurricane Irma postponed the Parrish Medical Center Stars of Space Coast Awards AND damaged the original venue: The new date is Dec. 1 and the new venue is the King Center Rotunda at Eastern Florida State College-Melbourne.
Finalists for the recognitions honoring the “stellar work” of nonprofits are:
- Hospice of St. Francis and Imperial Plaza/CBRE Superstar Awards: Kim Frodge of Nana’s House, Brooke Goldfarb of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Guyline Hill of Central Brevard Sharing Center, Tom Kammerdener of Aging Matters, Patti Smith of NAMI Space Coast and Joe Steckler of Helping Seniors of Brevard.
- Health First Supernova Award: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Children’s Hunger Project and Family Promise of Brevard.
- Florida Power & Light Community Star Award: Brevard Family Partnership, Children’s Advocacy Center and The MORGAN Project.
Three 2-1-1 volunteers also will be honored for exceptional service during Hurricane Irma with the Publix All-Star Award. They are Chris Brotemarkle, Geraldine Doyle and Keith Gee.
