AmazonSmileIf you’re shopping at Amazon.com for the holidays, you can support 2-1-1 Brevard and it won’t cost you a penny.
Through the AmazonSmile program, Amazon will donate 0.5 percent of what you spend year-round.
“That half-cent can add up quickly and painlessly, and every penny counts in operating a small nonprofit,” said Libby Donoghue, 2-1-1 executive director. “Just think about how much you might spend at Amazon.com over the course of a year.”

She said the National Retail Federation predicted Internet sales could reach $82 billion dollars just during this holiday season.

“Think about 0.5 percent of that number – that’s $41 million,” Donoghue said. “I’m joking, but it makes a point about the power of small percentages when you’re dealing with mind-boggling numbers.”

To participate, shoppers enter their regular Amazon user names and passwords at smile.amazon.com, then search for and select “2-1-1 Brevard” in the charity selector.

“After that, you just shop online as you normally would,” Donoghue said. “And Amazon sends 2-1-1 Brevard a check every three months.”
